DTU Startup Day presented 60 startups with solutions for environmental or social sustainability.
DTU Startup Day is the annual meeting place for startups, investors and companies. This is where upcoming startups from DTU Skylab and the more mature startups in DTU’s accelerator programme, Danish Tech Challenge, get the opportunity to present themselves to a larger audience, engage in dialogue with potential investors and companies, and listen to speakers who can make the road to the goal wider and easier. This is a track that the Otto Mønsted Foundation has chosen to support as a sponsor.
this year, 60 startups and over 300 participants were registered for DTU Startup Day at DTU in Lyngby on 28 October. The startup participants had the opportunity to exhibit their prototypes and technologies in two exhibition halls. In addition, DTU Skylab, DTU’s hub for innovation, was well attended by guests who came to attend panel discussions and pitch rounds, where the 60 startups each got three minutes to present themselves. This took place on stage in front of an audience of which two out of three were investors and companies.
This year, DTU Startup Day was characterised by a wide range of different projects that in different ways have developed sustainable technologies within five of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The participants represented a field ranging from health technology to IoT and robots. These included Plaloop – a digital platform that connects key players in recycled plastic and plastic waste, as well as the Zenze shoe sole, which uses a built-in sensor system to record the gait of Parkinson’s patients as a digital logbook of symptom development.
